In 2013, I read Danielle LaPorte’s book The Desire Map and came up with 6 Core Desired Feelings: Inspired, Abundant, In Communion, Cherished, Graceful, Serene.
I had these etched onto stones by a company called Soul Candy. Beautiful circular reminders of how I most want to feel.
I had a look through my Desire Map book today and read what I had written during the process of coming up with my CDFs.
“I must stop pushing myself so hard.
“I want to teach, write, inspire, encourage”
“Be kind to yourself.”
“I give and give and give until I am exhausted.”
“My job is depleting me, I haven’t felt well for ages.”
“Work is taking up all my time and energy. I take on too much. I am in danger of burning out completely.”
I wrote this 3 years before my burnout! Looking back, I am astonished at the wisdom that was making itself known to me, but which I completely ignored!
This seems to be common. In my conversations with women who are feeling overwhelmed, the one universal thing I hear is that they know they can’t go on as they are, but they have no time to make the changes they know they need to make.
This is what inspired my upcoming e-course Oxygen for Women. You don’t have to wait until you have completely burned out as I did. I will share small, daily actions that will lead you gently to feel how you want to feel in your life.
I wish I had listened to my own inner wisdom sooner. I knew how I wanted to feel : Inspired, Abundant, In Communion, Cherished, Graceful, Serene. Slowing down to the speed of grace has allowed these feelings to manifest in my life. I did it the hard way. It doesn’t have to be that way for you.
